National Integration Marathon organised in Sri City Runners soak the 'Business City' in their enthusiasm

At the dawn of Wednesday, a large number of youngsters hit the main roads of Sri City for the National Integration Marathon Run, soaking the 'business city' in their bubbling energy and enthusiasm. The Raavi Circle on the express way, near IFMR University, where the 10K & 5K categories of run, began , saw a riot of colour.

As this year marks Mahatma Gandhi’s sesquicentennial birth anniversary, as homage to the great son of India and to spread the message of national integration and youth resurgence, the event was organised under the joint aegis of IIIT-Sri City (IIIT-S), Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) and Sri City Foundation.

While the 10K run was flagged off by Mr. P. Ramesh, CAO, KREA University, Mr. Satish Kamat, President of Sri City (Operations) and Dr. P. Viswanath, Registrar, IIIT Sri City waved the flag for 5 K run group.

Today’s event, which is the fourth consecutive marathon in Sri City, drew participants from students of academic institutions, employees of 33 companies and general public, totalling to about 900.

Prof. G. Kannabiran, Director of IIIT, Sri City, Mr. C. Ramesh Kumar, Vice-President Sri City and Prof. G. V. Chalam Organising Secretary of the event and Mr. P. Ramachandra Reddy, IIIT Sri City, who added gloss to the event with their presence, distributed the prizes for 30 winners of the event in various categories. The organisers of the event have thanked all Companies and organisations for the successful conduct of the event.
